Good morning! I awoke at first light one morning while camping in the Nevada desert last week and immediately grabbed my camera. This shot was taken at 4:35 a.m. from a hillside above Unionville, Nevada. The rich reddish-gold color that permeates the top of the hill in this photo weaves in and out of the other sunrise pictures I shot that morning–but in none of them is it as deep as it is here, confirming that there is little margin for saturated light in the desert in summer.
Morning is the best time of day. New hope and promise arrive with the sun.
Agreed! Although only the dream of saturated light can rouse me at 4:00 .a.m.
