Some moments in our desert travels are unforgettable but not the one in which I took this photo. Before this moment my husband and I were hurtling down a narrow unpaved frontage road which parallels the freeway used by truckers and many other travelers in northern Nevada. The light caught my eye and I asked my husband to reverse. In doing so he raised some dust. We were already covered in dust: our vehicle, our bodies, our gear. So here we stood with cars whizzing above while we gazed beyond to where we had been: moments so sweet and wild that the memories were difficult to bear, impossible to forget.
