The brooding blues of this Nevada desert sunset are enchantingly dreamy as the region begins its descent into piercing nights and compellingly cold days.
I agree and there are so many beautiful sunsets in the Nevada desert. I just love those vistas and the variety of colors. Later this fall we will have sunsets like beds of red roses in bloom.
I return to these scenes on this blog, the “looking at the west” blog, or in my minds eye from my own experiences in the interior west often to gain that state of mind that is without the clutter of modernity.
We were in Yakima this weekend to bury my cousin who they say loved nature, but in the end the clutter overwhelmed him. I found myself staring at the hills. Cold, snow coming down, but more real than anything erected in that valley. I will remember him this way.
Mark, It delights me to know that you enjoy the blog. I agree, nature and its elements are a great serum for modernity and loss. I’m sorry you lost your cousin. Thinking of you, Vivian

There really is nothing like it, is there? Clears the mind.

Surreal! 🙂
Beautiful colors–again I am taken in by the amazing beauty of the desert-
It’s truly a place of infinite intrigue…we had a series of sunsets like this and then they stopped.
