Nevada Desert Sunrises

Sunrise, Imlay, Nevada

These are my favorite Nevada desert sunrise images of 2012.  Not every morning in the Nevada desert begins with a beautiful sunrise.  Sometimes clouds or fog obscure the sun’s rays or draw a gray curtain across the desert sky.  When that happens, the secret to seeing a glorious sunrise is to get up the next morning and try again.

And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.  2 Peter 1:19

      • You welcome, dear Vivian! I am doing well, I am working hard and that’s why I didn’t have enough time to update new photos on my blog. I wish you the best in 2013, enjoying life with your dearest persons. Hugs from Romania, Have a nice day! 🙂 Cristina

  1. Hello…I just wanted to say that your images are simply breath-taking. Would be okay if I used your main sunrise image here on one of my graduate-school projects? It’s for a fake university website, called Sunrise University. I can send you the link for the draft page if you like. I would credit you as the photographer on the image or page so that it is obvious it’s yours, and provide a link to your blog if possible. Technically, the only people who will see the site are my instructor and myself. Thank you in advance if this is possible, and have a wonderful evening (and sunrise tomorrow!)

    • Dear Sadie, Thank you for your very nice note. I am delighted that you enjoyed the images. You are welcome to use the photo for your project. Credit and a link to the blog if possible will be appreciated–I’ll email the photo file. I’d love to see your project! Warmly, Vivian

      • Thank you so much! Yes, I will put your name on the image itself, and will put a link to your blog from my page that discusses the project. I’ll be done with it all by this Sunday; I’ll send you the links as soon as it’s done. Can you get my email from my registration to comment?

  2. Viv–I’m visiting this page during Easter Week, and so many of your images speak of the fiery symbolism these days mean to me and to many others. Love that you’ve included the II Peter verse. Befitting. Thank you for all this work!–M.

    • Dear Melissa, This work is a cherished blessing. Thank you as always for your appreciation. It speaks to your generousity that one so gifted as you takes the time to visit and write me. Happy Easter to you and your yours. Vivian

  3. A google image search brought me here, and I’m beginning to believe it can’t be coincidence. I’m about to release my first EP, it’s a Christian rock project, and my band is called “Skydive Sunrise.” If it’s alright with you I would love to modify one of these images and use it for my album art and website. I’m afraid I couldn’t pay you anything, as much as I’d love to, they’re beautiful shots, but if there’s any way I could use one of these it would really be great. I hope to hear from you soon, and once again, great photos!

  4. Hi 🙂 What beautiful photography! I found your blog while searching for images, and I am so impressed!!! I am an artist and I’m attempting to do a painting of a Mexican riding a donkey out of the sunset. Would there be any chance of using your gorgeous sunset photo as reference for my sunset? I am more than happy to credit you for it! Cheers!

    • Hi Melanie,
Thank you for your lovely note. I would be delighted for you to use a sunset photo of your choice as a reference for your painting. Credit will be greatly appreciated. If your painting is displayed online I would request that you include a link to my site. And I dearly hope you will send me a photo of your painting when it is completed! Kind regards, Vivian

      • Absolutely on all counts Vivian! Thank you so much!! I very much appreciate it 🙂 I will email you soon (hopefully) with a photo of the finished painting.
        Kind regards.
        Melanie

  5. Hi, I am writing a book about the Resurrection and wonder if I could use your ’emergent sunrise’ photo (2nd row, center) for my book. I wanted to use a photo of sunrise over the Mt of Olives, but alas, that mountain ridge is cluttered with building silhouettes today. I would provide attribution. Regards, Mark
