My Plott Hound nicknamed “Monk” follows me everywhere and is fiercely protective.  Although he is nearing the age of 10 and would probably have preferred to sleep in, he arose with me one morning last week to photograph this desert sunrise from a hillside above Unionville, Nevada.  In this shot, Monk is looking around for his “brother,” a German Short-Haired Pointer (not pictured.)

Unionville is an unincorporated hamlet on the east side of the Humboldt Range in Pershing County, Nevada.
